A New Year and a New Vision for KidCutUp.com

I’ve known DJ, Producer, and Stage-Tamer KidCutUp for a long, long time. Going on 20 years!

We first met in the Milwaukee, WI hip-hop scene (he opened an Atmosphere show with this jam, and I had to ask him what it was…), and we’ve kept in touch over the years. He’s since moved to LA, touring the world with icons like P!nk, Cher, and has continued to hone his craft with the talented folks at DJCity.com.

When COVID began to hit he saw the writing on the wall and started building a base on Twitch, taking his undeniable knack for audience engagement (the analog kind) to screens around the world. Around this time, he reached out to me for help in building a new website. Not one to say no to most things, I was super excited to take on the challenge. We’ve come a long way together — I helped him set up his social media pages back in the day.

He wanted a modern approach to his site, somewhere to send fans if they find him digitally, as well as a place to hype when he returns to live stages. We landed on Squarespace for the CMS, and thanks to my friend Doug (shout out Haphduzn!) we landed on Printful for merchandise and fulfillment. We rebuilt everything from scratch, taking inspiration from what worked for him before, as well as nods to other artists. The About page holds information that was previously held in three different places, and we shifted the press kit to the cloud so it can be updated on the fly.

We chose a handful of classic KCU merch to launch with, and we’re already adding some new designs and will continue to expand the offerings in 2021.

I’m grateful to have the chance to work with him on this process — we’ve learned a lot together and it also served as a great purpose to keep in touch with a longtime friend in a year when connection is all we’ve got.

If you’re looking to rebuild a site or want to work on some improvements — I’d love to ring in the new year with you and help you reach your goals. Give me a shout!
