Université Laval – innovation in admission

March 16th, 2009

I studied at Université Laval (located in Québec City, QC, Canada) last May-June and took part in a 5 week intensive french program. Learned a lot, met tons of people, and grew up a bit.

Just found this on their website. One of the COOLEST ways I can think of to market their programs. They’ve got 375 of them, so this is a great tool to see what’s available for a prospective student.

The above means “Tell us what interests you” (in French). All you do at the website is insert your interest and it tells you what programs they have at the university that can suit your needs. A little less personal than a tour – but much more user-oriented and just plain fun to use.

They’ve also got a nice little ULAVAL logo banner on the bottom right:

“The world needs new ideas.”

I agree. And for those interested, this is a GREAT university to check out, even if just on vacation.

Tweetdeck, now with Facebook support.

March 16th, 2009

I’ve been using Tweetdeck for a couple months now on my laptop running Windows 7 and we use it for our MUTV Twitter account at work on our Mac Pro – and no complaints on either platform.

With the new Facebook and assumedly updated API comes the new version of Tweetdeck Beta…complete with support for viewing Facebook Statuses, as well as updating your Facebook and Twitter accounts simultaneously. I use ping.fm for that since it also hits MySpace and other social networks, but this is a really good tool nonetheless. Click here to check out the article from WashingtonPost / TechCrunch.
