“I bet a million dollars on DOOM against Lil’ Wayne” – Mos Def

March 27th, 2009

I’m sayin’ it now, people. Real recognize real. Half the stuff Mos is spitting is off of MF DOOM’s “MM..FOOD” album on Rhymesayers.

Bam. Enjoy this.

Listen to my radio show Saturday night (and watch it too)

March 27th, 2009

So my friend Bubba (aka Christian Shebesta) and I have a radio show on Marquette University Radio, aka WMUR. It’s on Saturday nights from 10pm to 1am CENTRAL Time.

brllogo

Bubba happens to be nothing short of a prodigy when it comes to beatmaking. Homie’s freshly 19 years old and can battle the best of ‘em. With more than enough time to learn, he’s only getting better. Don’t sell him short though…his stuff is solid as a rock and creative. Check his MySpace to peep game.

Anyway…this week he’s going to bring in his MPC. What’s an MPC? Click here to find out.

I mean, all I can do is talk, play music, and occasionally speak french on air. My dude’s gonna be making beats live once or twice every hour. Your favorite college radio DJ doesn’t even touch that.

Since we’re both obsessed with music, hip-hop, and we’re both broadcasting majors at Marquette – I’ve decided to up the nerd ante a bit this time around. This is especially a big deal since I have to miss the Yak Ballz show in Milwaukee. Oh well. Rap will be around forever, right?

I’m going to have USTREAM running on my laptop to the entire time (a la Gala Darling streaming live from SXSW in typical Gala fashion). What does that mean? That means while you college kids are getting drunk, or you older folks are reading books and drinking red wine…you can watch a musician (and a weird scandinavian kid) make music and have fun…and maybe do some cool stuff in between. If it goes well I’ll look into getting a Canon GL2 or such to hook up to my computer and spruce things up a bit. Nahmsayin.

Click the USTREAM logo below to hit our streaming page to watch us. I’ll be making “hello ____”  signs upon request.

Earth Hour – this Saturday night.

March 26th, 2009

I’ll definitely be doing this. No lights! Better get my candles ready.

VOTE EARTH
YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTE

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm.

Larry King: Should Marijuana be legalized?

March 24th, 2009

I don’t smoke. I do think it’s ridiculous that people die over a drug that does (usually) nothing but good. The whole “gateway” thing is legitimate, but I do think it should be legalized. I don’t really like either of these dudes much but it’s a really good snippet. Ron Paul’s daaaaamn smart.
