It’s been two years since Brother Ali released the critically acclaimed album The Undisputed Truth, and as the Rhymesayers lyrical heavyweight and producer Ant put the finishing touches on their upcoming follow up (Fall ‘09) the dynamic duo cap off the last two years with a new EP and a full-length DVD.

Nine tracks featuring two highly sought after b-sides and seven new and previously unreleased songs including “Philistine David”, which was featured in the Jonathan Demme directed documentary, Jimmy Carter Man From Plains and “The Believer” a collaboration with Slug of Atmosphere. In addition to the new EP, The Truth Is Here also contains a full length DVD that features Brother Ali’s sold out homecoming performance during The Undisputed Truth Tour at the legendary First Avenue nightclub in Minneapolis as well as interviews, a special commentary by Brother Ali, and videos of “Take Me Home” and “Uncle Sam Goddamn” from The Undisputed Truth. The Truth Is Here captures a key period in the career of what many have called one of the most promising voices to emerge from the underground this century and will be a must have for any and every Brother Ali fan.

New CAGE track. “Nothing Left To Say”

February 11th, 2009

Not sure if I like this or not. Rhymes are a little cheesy in the beginning when he’s just…talking.

Song shifts hard at 1:42…I like it a lot after that point. Good new style, Mr. Palko. Can’t wait to play the new record.

Rainy day music. Keren Ann – “Ailleurs”

February 11th, 2009

It’s a rainy day (IN FEBRUARY! It shuould be snowing. Whatever, global warming) and I’ve been listening to a lot of somber-ish music the last day or so.

One of my favorite songs by the beautiful Keren Ann. Her English singing is as good as her French. Everything of hers is on iTunes. What are you waiting for? Buy. Now.

Enjoy.

Ran by this on the blogosphere a few minutes ago.

I’m gonna try and run it on my Treo and see if it works. Should be fun.

EDIT: does NOT work on my Treo 700wx. Oh well. I’ll wait until I get a new phone and hope it’s out for whatever platform it has (WM6, Android, WebOS)

C-Rayz Walz “In Your Soul” feat. Slug & Sum in 16

February 11th, 2009

Just caught this beast on 2dopeboyz. I’m supposed to be doing homework right now but I’m not about to turn this down. Maybe it’s a gift for being awake this early and actually attempting to be productive?

Download here.

EDIT: Awesome track. Whoever produced it deserves some heavy pats on the back.

Also; check out FREERAYZWALZ…Not quite as fresh but double worthy of your attention.
